The Project Team Model: Why Every Project Deserves the Right Team
When a pastor or ministry leader reaches out to us, they are usually carrying something heavy. A church plant that launches in six months. A rebrand that has been talked about for years. A website that no longer tells the truth about who the church has become. They are not just looking for a designer. They are looking for people they can trust with something sacred.
That is why we think so carefully about who actually does the work.
The Problem With One Size Fits All Teams
Most agencies are built one of two ways. Some are a single talented freelancer trying to be the strategist, the illustrator, the web developer, and the project manager all at once. Others are large shops where every client gets routed through the same department, regardless of what the project actually needs.
Both models can produce good work. But both have a blind spot. The freelancer eventually runs out of hours and range. The big agency eventually starts treating your church like a ticket in a queue.
A multi campus church with a 130 year history does not need the same team as a pre launch church plant meeting in a living room. A Kingdom business launching a product line does not need the same team as a parachurch nonprofit preparing a donor campaign. Different assignments call for different gifts.
One Agency. One Relationship.
So we built Design Church Co. around a simple idea we call the Project Team Model.
One agency. One client relationship. One project manager. One Brand Director. The right team for every project.
On your side, everything is centralized. You have one relationship with Design Church, one point of contact who keeps your timeline moving, and one creative leader who owns the direction of your brand. You never have to wonder who to email or repeat your vision to five different people.
On our side, everything is flexible. Behind that one relationship, we assemble the specific people your project needs.
How the Project Team Works
Your Project Manager oversees the whole project. They keep timelines and tasks moving, coordinate the people involved, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. If you have ever worked with a creative partner who disappeared for three weeks, you know how much this matters.
Your Brand Director leads the creative direction of the entire project. They listen to your story, guard the central idea of your brand, and direct the team so every logo, color, page, and graphic points in the same direction.
Your Project Team is the part we are most excited about. It is a custom creative team assembled around the needs of your specific project. Depending on what you need, that could include brand designers, illustrators, web designers, copywriters, photographers, videographers, or translators. Our team is spread across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, which means we can bring the right gifts to the table instead of forcing your project into whatever skill set happens to be available.
Why We Built It This Way
Honestly, the model came out of Scripture before it came out of a business plan.
Paul describes the Church as one body with many parts (1 Corinthians 12). The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you." Every part has a role, and the body works best when each part is doing what it was designed to do.
We wanted our agency to reflect that. We did not want a few people stretched thin trying to be everything. We wanted gifted people serving in their strengths, unified by one vision and one leader, all working toward the same goal: brand design that points people to Jesus.
What This Means for Your Church or Ministry
- Clarity. You always know who is leading and who to talk to.
- Consistency. One Brand Director guards the big idea, so the final system feels unified.
- Expertise. Specialists handle the work they are best at, from sub ministry logos to bilingual copy to website builds.
- Care. Because the relationship stays centralized, you are treated like a partner, not a project number.
The Right Team for the Right Assignment
Every church, ministry, and Kingdom venture carries a unique assignment from God. We believe the people who help tell that story should be chosen with the same intentionality.
We don't believe every client needs the same team. We believe every project deserves the right team.
If you are getting ready to launch, rebrand, or build a new website, we would love to hear what God is doing in your ministry and put the right team around it. Book a Discovery Call and let's talk.
